The roast is serious business at gastropub The Duke of Clarence. The Victorian-era establishment is styled on a traditional English tavern and, as such, prides itself on its Sunday roast menu. There are four different options to choose from – beef sirloin, porchetta, lamb and a vegetarian option – at the moment it’s spiced eggplant steak. All come with plenty of sides, from Yorkies to roasties, and a very British array of complimentary condiments like mint sauce and horseradish, plus comforting optional add-ons like pigs in blankets, brussels sprouts fried up with bacon and a cauliflower cheese topped with garlicky breadcrumbs.
