As its name suggests, local outfit 48 Flavours has developed many more creations from familiar comforts including apple pie crumble to challenging Asian ingredients such as durian or taro. Adelaide’s Italian heartland, in the north-eastern suburbs, now has a gelateria that is a match for its terrific cucina. Ovo is set in a beautifully finished room decorated in shades of vanilla, pistachio and coffee – as it happens, some of its better flavours.
