Seven years after Supernormal Canteen set up shop, its owner Andrew McConnell has announced that the popular venue will be no more. The St Kilda site of the Melbourne-based restaurant chain is to be sold. 

“We can confirm that Supernormal Canteen, 2/157 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda is on the market for sale,” comments a group spokesperson. “After seven years in St Kilda, we have decided to consolidate our focus on existing venues and projects.”

Supernormal Canteen took over from the McConnell-owned Luxembourg in 2017. Unfortunately it seems to have followed a similar path to its predecessor and will confirm a closure date once the sale has been finalised.

In good news for McConnell fans, the original Supernormal venue at 180 Flinders Lane in Melbourne CBD will remain unaffected by the sale and will continue to trade seven days per week.
