Whether you prefer pappardelle or you’re a penne kind of person, you’ll find all your favourite strands at Melbourne’s new pasta festival, The Big Spaghetti.
Running as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival 2020, The Big Spaghetti will see a number of Italian food and wine stalls converge at Queen Victoria Market to create a big fat pasta party, Italian street fair-style.
Starches will be supplied by some of the country’s best Italian eateries, with hand-cut offerings by Tipo 00 to Cicciabella, Lupo, Marameo, Rosetta, Trattoria Emilia, Capitano, and Café Paci, among others.
If you’ve decided that your garlic breath is really not that bad after all, swing by the Lady and the Tramp photo booth where you can reenact the film’s famous spaghetti scene against a Disney-inspired backdrop.
Want to learn the secrets to a truly great sauce? Hosts Matt Preston and Sam Pang have teamed up to create the World’s Longest Cooking Demo, which will see the duo make a Bolognese in real-time from scratch. “Here’s one we definitely didn’t make earlier,” Matt Preston quips.
The Big Spaghetti takes place in Shed X and Queen Street at Queen Victoria Market on Saturday, March 28, 2020 from 11am – 7pm. Entry is free, with food and drinks available to purchase from bars and pop-up stalls until sold out. For more details head to melbournefoodandwine.com.au.
