Welcome back Brisbane Ice Cream Festival, an ode to icy desserts.

If you have an enduring passion for ice cream you’ll no doubt already be well acquainted with the Brisbane Ice Cream Festival. The event, launched in an ode to icy treats, proved such a success last year that tickets sold out in under 10 minutes. Catching on to the abundance of ice cream tragics present in the Sunshine State, the festival will return again in 2019, across March 22 and 24.

Fittingly hosted at the former site of the Peters Ice Cream Factory in West End, The Brisbane Ice Cream Festival will this year offer 17 stalls of varying specialities. From 11am till 5pm you’ll be able to wander the room indulging in all manner of ice cream-based indulgences – expect everything from the experimental flavours of Gelato Messina to the gelato-filled cannoli of La Macelleria. The duo will be joined by Happy Pops Noosa, Ungermann Brothers, Minus 32, and Popsyland among others.

The 2019 festival will also see the introduction of an Up Late component on the Friday prior to the event, a late night foray into the frozen realm with live music and boozy takes on ice cream. There will also be the launch of Chef’s Playground, where an eight-course dinner is produced by some of the best chefs, including Ben Williamson, Philip Johnson and Paul McGivern.

As is the norm for food festivals these days, both the Saturday and Sunday events are split into three separate, timed sessions – entry is free but ticket registration is essential. Tickets to the Up Late ($49) and Chef’s Playground ($99) will cost a little extra but we’re sure all dairy lovers will deem it worth the extra pocket money.

Tickets to the Brisbane Ice Cream Festival can be purchased online.
