World Chocolate Day will be particularly sweet for Brisbane this year, with the capital city scoring its very own chocolate festival.
Visitors to Portside Wharf on Sunday, July 7, will be able to relive the Easter holidays, with rich, melty treats like Italian hot chocolates, Nutella pizzas, and a chocolate fondue fountain.
A number of local operators will be getting involved, with Burrito Bar serving up chocolate nachos and tacos, Hello Harry mixing up honeycomb crumble shakes and Cruisers Alfresco slicing up salted caramel chocolate tarts. Mediterranean eatery, Byblos Restaurant and Bar, has created two special cocktails for the occasion, a choc mint concoction called Dark Desire and a Milky Bar martini. Upmarket chocolatier, Mayfield Chocolates, will also be popping up with bonbons.
If you need to take a rest break from the gorging, Dendy Cinemas Portside will be showing a special screening of the French film Chocolat, however, you won’t be able to escape the chocolate brownies and choc tops from the Candy Bar.
The family-friendly event will also include live music, as well as face painting, balloon sculpting, and a giant cookie tree with free cookies for the first 500 through the door.
