Colin Fassnidge to star in Australian version of Kitchen Nightmares

Stepping in for Gordon Ramsay, Colin Fassnidge says he will be "firm but fair" on the new reality TV show.

Australia’s very own hothead, Colin Fassnidge, will return to screens this year as the new host of reality TV series Kitchen Nightmares.

The program will follow in the footsteps of the US smash hit series, which has achieved worldwide success thanks to its unstable star, Gordon Ramsay. The show is responsible for producing many memorable lines, such as “my gran could do better, and she’s dead!” and “why did the chicken cross the road? Because you didn’t *@$ing cook it!”

However, the My Kitchen Rules host has promised to be “firm but fair” and won’t be resorting to the same bullying techniques.

“If you are after a show screaming and shouting in people’s faces, that is not what I want to do,” Colin Fassnidge said.

“I am a lot older now. Maybe 10 years ago I was like that but not now. I don’t think anyone wants to see me go in at this time with the hospitality industry on its knees and be screaming and shouting at people.”

“Even me as a restaurateur is having a hard time, there is no one that is actually killing it at the moment,” he said.

“It is a very tough industry to be in so anything you can do to make it better and help someone, how good is that?”

The new show will see Fassnidge step in to help a new struggling restaurant each week, doing whatever’s necessary to help them turn their fortunes around.

“Is your business doing what the area needs? Are you doing the right food? After lockdown, people know how to cook now and they expect a lot more.”

Kitchen Nightmares will premiere on Seven later this year.
