Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters?
An Italian restaurant in the small town of Monongahela an hour south of Pittsburgh is a strong contender for nabbing the best dressed restaurant gong this Halloween.
Neighbourhood eatery Angelo’s II is now home to a giant inflatable Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man flailing around on its rooftop. If the iconic Ghostbusters character wasn’t enough, Angelo’s II has dialled up the spook with some gangling green tentacles hanging from its windows.
Keeping watch over the small town, the glowing Stay-Puft lights up after dark, getting the whole town into the Halloween spirit and potentially spooking a few spaghetti slurpers inside.
Monongahela locals are loving Angelo’s II dedication to the holiday, with hordes of passers-by stopping for selfies in front of the diner.
“They love it,” Angelo’s II owner Ryan Dzimiera told US website TODAY Food. “I’m looking out the window right now and there’s a class of kids taking pictures and standing in front of it, which is just really cool to see.”
It’s not the first time Angelo’s II has played dress-ups: Stay- Puft follows hot on the heels of a giant Santa Claus who took up residence on its roof over Christmas.
“It was a combination of just throwing around different ideas,” Dzimiera said in the story. “I’ve been a fan of ‘Ghostbusters’ for 30 years, so we figured we’ll just put a big Stay Puft on the roof.”
Stay-Puft was ordered online but Dzimiera, a diehard Ghostbusters fan, had the green tentacles custom-made for his restaurant.
There’s no Ghostbusters themed dishes on the menu as yet but he’s told US Today that the drinks might get a menacing makeover soon.
And thankfully, there’s been no sightings of Zuul or Slimer yet. Phew.
