The area’s $160-million Harbord Diggers redevelopment is fast becoming a foodie haven.
Freshwater residents you’re in luck, with the district set to be a new favourite for foodies. The $160-million redevelopment of Harbord Diggers is currently underway, a build that’s far beyond a revamp, which will introduce a completely new dining precinct, accompanied by a handful of some of Sydney’s hospitality heavyweights.
Following on from the news of Giovanni Pilu’s involvement in the development, Harbord Diggers has also confirmed the addition of Mike Timbs’ restaurant Teddy Larkins at Freshwater, and an additional Asian dining offering.
The drinks offering is set to be equally impressive with a focus on quality rather than quantity. The bar and its outdoor terrace will become the responsibility of Ivy GM Justin Tynan and Mrs Sippy Double Bay co-owner Ben May.
It’s a far cry from the suburban clubs of yesteryear, and evidence that the Sydney food scene is continuing to expand outside of inner-city suburban borders. If you needed further proof you need only look to the news that Sake head chef Richard Slarp will be moving on (and out specifically), heading up the menu at The Alcott, a 250-seat restaurant and spritz bar at The Lane Cove Club. A Mediterranean influence will shape the venue’s food offering, which is the latest space from The Norths Group.
