Melbourne's Higher Ground has a new CBD cafe en route

Higher Ground

A Dean & Deluca-inspired eatery is on its way.

Standing out in a saturated market is no easy feat, especially when it comes to Melbourne’s cafe scene. It’s why burgeoning hospitality crew The Mulberry Group should be applauded; the team can lay claim to some of the city’s most beloved cafes, including Top Paddock, Higher Ground, and The Kettle Black.

But not yet satisfied with their firm grasp of the Victorian hospitality scene, The Mulberry Group is preparing to expand again. The team will welcome new eatery Liminal to bustling Collins Street in April of next year.

Inspired by America’s Dean & Deluca, Liminal will be “part cafe, part wine shop, part produce store,” explained the group on Instagram. While a menu has not as yet been confirmed, Liminal is expected to offer both an eatery in which to enjoy a coffee (or a wine), as well as a deli outlet to pick up specialty goods. There are also plans to use the space for events and workshops in time.

The new venue will also be a physical departure from The Mulberry’s Group’s previous eateries, setting up shop at the base of an office building in the CBD. But Liminal will be in good company; the 400 square metre space will conveniently be nestled next to the city outlet of Lune.
