The menu will include casual Italian eats like smoked pork jowl arancini and chicken cotoletta in a sage burnt butter.

It’s no coincidence that a spate of new restaurants and cafes are scheduled to open in Waterloo just as some of the major high-rises, including Infinity by Crown and Waterfall, near their completion dates.

One of the first to open in the area will be Freddie Green’s, a new all-day eatery by former Becasse chef, James Metcalfe.

The new venue takes its moniker from Frederick Green, a former Lord Mayor of Alexandria and the namesake for the region.

“Freddie Green’s will be a destination for big flavour Italian dishes made with great produce. We want to provide the Green Square community with a little taste of Italy in their own backyard,” James Metcalfe said.

The new venue will open for breakfast through to dinner, with a menu that includes a smoked pork jowl arancini and a chicken cotoletta, a herb-crumbed schnitzel, in a sage burnt butter.

Freddie Green’s will open on September 1. Joining Freddie will be Tramsheds’ eatery, Butcher and the Farmer and Social Society by Gabriel’s Coffee, with more openings expected to follow.
