Is the chef and restaurateur bringing a taste of Cho Cho San to Brisbane?
Jonathan Barthelmess has today confirmed the opening of his second Brisbane restaurant after taking hold of the lease between Greca and the soon-to-be-opened Stanley at the Howard Smith Wharves precinct.
The restaurant, slated to open in November of this year, will take form as a Japanese izakaya, inspired by Barthelmess’ travels in Tokyo. With a focus on sustainable seafood, the menu will also include a selection of luxurious Wagyu beef and sake offerings. The two-storey venue will also feature a raw seafood section downstairs, while upstairs will see the venue’s interpretation of a ‘fun vinyl bar’ come to life with a curated whiskey list.
“We love being part of Howard Smith Wharves where the huge success of Greca has taken us all by surprise,” Barthelmess says. “By taking the restaurant space next door we can grow and strengthen our team and invest more into the Brisbane dining scene.”
As a restaurateur, Barthelmess’ portfolio of successful restaurants includes Greek-inspired The Apollo in Sydney and Tokyo, Potts Point favourite Cho Cho San and Brisbane’s Greca.
Details of the restaurant name and chef are expected to be announced in the coming months.
