Come on Barbie, let's go party.
Fresh off the high heels of the recently released Barbie trailer comes the announcement that an official Malibu Barbie Cafe will pop up in New York next month.
The Malibu Barbie Cafe will specifically focus on the sun-tanned surfer doll that took the ’70s by storm. Those with a Malibu Barbie in their collection will remember her pale blue swimsuit, pink sunglasses and miniature sunscreen bottle*.
Not just for six-year-olds, the Malibu Barbie Cafe will cater to all ages, with a beachy Californian fit-out that will feature bright Barbie colours and retro vibes.
The food will definitely be real with a special themed menu that includes Pacific Paradise Pancakes, West Coast Wave Wedge Salad, a California Dreamin’ Club Sandwich, and to finish, an Anything is Possible Sundae.
There will also be exclusive merchandise for sale and plenty of photo ops for your Insta feed, including a life-size Barbie Box. Just remember to come prepared with a high ponytail.
“We are delighted to announce the opening of The Malibu Barbie Café, a truly unique dining experience that celebrates the Barbie brand and all she represents,” said Mattel senior director Julie Freeland.
“At Mattel we are always looking for exciting, new ways to bring the Barbie experience to life. From the beach-loving décor to the menu, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to celebrate the iconic Barbie style.”
The event will be ticketed with prices starting at $35 for kids and $50 for adults, which includes a reserved seat and a choice of entree and side item.
The Malibu Barbie Café will open its plastic doors in New York City from May 17, 2023 and Chicago from June 7, 2023. Join the waitlist here.
