Make sure your friend saves you a spot.
While you wait for flight prices to Japan to drop, get your sake fix at this new Tokyo-style drinking den that has just opened in Darlinghurst, Sydney.
Nomidokoro Indigo is a sake bar and izakaya by Tin Jung Shea, Mitomo Somehara, and Chris Wu, the trio behind buzzy Darling Square eatery Nakano Darling and Crows Nest’s Yakitori Yurippi.
The tiny bento-sized bar will sling around 20 sakes from traditional tokkuri bottles with Japanese beers poured from an automatic dispenser. Get stacking on the small plates, which include miso-marinated wagyu tongue, wasabi octopus and deep-fried prawns with housemade mayo.
Just make sure your friend saves you a spot. The inside bar seats just eleven people at a time with a few additional spots on the street, plus a tachinomi “standing room” that fits two or four.
To ensure everyone gets a turn, all bookings are for two hours only, until 8:45pm when it becomes 90 minutes.
