A fervour for bacon has seen it propelled far beyond a humble brunch favourite with the arrival of a new event based around the meat cut. Perth is the lucky city for the event with the 2017 Fremantle Bacon Festival to be held over two days on the weekend of April 22 and 23.

The Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by Rydges will become home to the weekend of bacon-focused activities, that will act as a celebration of the meat in all its forms. Pop-up bars will sport bacon cocktails and pints, while food stalls will offer guests bacon-themed foodie options (including a promised bacon ice cream).

There will be bacon-themed games including a cook-off for both amateurs and pros, with the day accompanied by plenty live music. A kids zone will also be provided for the young, with kids under 15 able to enter the event for free.​​
