The food scene has for months now been fervently discussing the revamp and subsequent relaunch of Quay. Now the Sydney fine dining establishment’s debut looks closer than ever with the confirmation that the restaurant’s official opening date will be July 19.
Quay will open for reservations to the public from Thursday July 5 at 9am. If you are interested on snapping up a booking for yourself we suggest you get in quick; when reservations were last opened in 2017 the restaurant counted 810 in a single day.
As reported earlier, a new menu direction will accompany the fine dining space’s new look; a signature ten-course tasting menu will guide the diner through his new dishes with the emphases on flavour and texture, alongside a six-course menu with a choice of main. “It was a difficult process to design but a huge part of my job that I enjoy and fully embrace,” said chef Peter Gilmore of the new direction. “The major renovation gave me the opportunity to revaluate everything from the smallest detail up.”
Restaurateur John Fink also has big plans for the new look Quay; first and foremost a more intimate dining experience. “I have found in my travels that the best service has always come in smaller, more personal restaurants,” he has said, “So we have created smaller, more intimate dining spaces to make it a more personal experience. We have a saying right now: We are building ‘the biggest little restaurant in Australia.”
Coinciding with Quay’s relaunch is a delicious. reader dinner to be held on July 30; for tickets and details click here.
