The luxe line-up includes A5 wagyu, lobster sashimi, snow crab, otoro tuna and 12-hour steamed abalone.
Sokyo is known for its impressively long omakase menu, which regularly includes up to 21 dishes, but it also happens to be one of Sydney’s best.
In 2022, Sokyo was ranked 25 on the delicious. 100 and named Best Japanese Restaurant in NSW. The celebrated diner is known for its high-end sushi art and its creative, modern takes on traditional Japanese cuisine.
Unlike most omakase experiences, diners can look forward to a relaxed experience created by its lively setting at The Star, Sydney. The Pyrmont restaurant is home to two beautifully designed dining rooms, with the omakase experience taking place at an intimate side counter overlooking the handiwork of the sushi chefs.

Diners can expect around 19-21 courses, with a focus on premium ingredients and high-quality seafood.
While the menu is kept as a surprise to diners, you might see dishes like the King George Whiting Sando, a fish sandwich-of-sorts, made from expertly-flamed fillets on toasted ciabatta and garlic aioli. The sashimi selection is particularly impressive, with inclusions like snow crab, toothfish, scampi and otoro tuna plus the specialty – a 12-hour steamed abalone.
The exclusive degustation menu, personally prepared by Executive Chef Chase Kojima or Head Chef Daniel Kwak is available to only six guests per night from Monday to Thursday.

“Sokyo has always been about paying respect to traditional Japanese cooking while giving it a burst of fresh energy that leaves customers with an unforgettable experience, and this new omakase offering is no different,” Executive Chef Chase Kojima said.
“We wanted to ensure that every dish at Sokyo created a moment that feels like a performance and with the new omakase menu, we are offering diners an exclusive front-row seat.”
Sokyo Omakase is priced at $300 per person. With only a limited number of seats available, reservations are released on the first day of each month at 10am.
