And we are super excited!
Andrew McConnell’s playful pan-Asian eatery Supernormal will open its doors in Brisbane next year.
The new restaurant will be located on the riverfront, between Eagle Street Pier and Howard Smith Wharves, and will seat around 120 guests.
Like in Melbourne, the menu will feature Chinese, Korean, and Japanese dishes inspired by restaurateur Andrew McConnell’s time living and working abroad. Diners can expect all the Supernormal classics, such as lobster rolls and DIY duck leg baos, alongside new dishes inspired by local Queensland produce.

Supernormal Brisbane will mark the first venue from the Trader House group to open outside of Melbourne.
“For the past seven years, we’ve welcomed many interstate and international guests to Supernormal in Melbourne. Now, we look forward to contributing to Brisbane’s already growing and vibrant food scene,” Andrew McConnell said.
“There’s also a bounty of some of the country’s best produce available. What a thrill to be able to explore this as we refine our offering.”

While still in the early conceptual stages, Andrew has again engaged Vince Alafaci and Caroline Choker of Sydney’s ACME to bring Supernormal to life. The duo also collaborated with Trader House on the design of Gimlet at Cavendish House.
Supernormal will open at 443 Queen Street, Brisbane in late 2023. For more information on Supernormal, head to supernormal.net.au.
