It might be your last chance to try the confit ocean trout.
It’s already one of the hottest tables in town, but you still have a chance to dine at this internationally renowned restaurant.
In September 2022, Tetsuya’s announced on Instagram that it would close its iconic Kent Street restaurant in August 2023, due to the current location becoming a redevelopment site.
However, due to construction delays and the Tet’s team struggling to find a venue befitting of such legend, the Kent Street fine-diner will stay put until December 2023.
It wouldn’t be the first time the fine diner has shifted suburbs. In fact, Tetsuya’s originally opened in a converted terrace house in Rozelle in 1989 before moving to its current home in 2000.

Tetsuya’s has remained one of Sydney’s most popular and enduring restaurants. Last year it was ranked 38 in the delicious. 100, with the reviewer praising its signature dish – the confit ocean trout with kombu, apple and witlof.
“No discernible changes have been made to the dish in decades, and no matter how many times you’ve had it, it won’t disappoint,” the review reads. “While restaurant trends come and go, this iconic fine diner – and its signature dish – have stood the test of time.”
Tetsuya’s is slated to close in December 2023. Bookings can be made at tetsuyas.com.
