There’s a robot restaurant now

Vending machine
Robot restaurants: the vending machines of the future?

The machines are winning, guys.

San Francisco’s Eatsa is changing the way we eat, one button at a time.

The fully-automated restaurant offers vegetarian quinoa bowls (robots love quinoa) for lunch and dinner for $6.95 – not having to pay for cashiers and servers keeps costs down. You can order in-store or from your phone, and choose from a range of ingredients to make up your bowl. There’s no lines, no cashiers and it’s all super-fast. Once your meal is ready, it appears in your (personalised!) cubby and you’re ready to go.

Of course, the concept isn’t entirely new – Japanese ramen places have been doing this for years. If you’re in a hurry and just want your food, we can totally see the appeal. But isn’t it nicer to get your lunch from, you know, a person?
