After a successful stint in the USA, chef and restaurateur Jessi Singh will be returning to Melbourne. The Indian-born foodie is en route back to Fitzroy North, ready to relaunch his former restaurant Horn Please, which will open doors mid-July. This will be the first of many ventures for Singh, who is already looking at the Sydney market for opportunities.

A Melbourne return was always on the cards says Singh. “We were always committed to coming back home to Australia. My kids were born in Melbourne and this is where I started my restaurant career. Even though we’ve had high success and a thrilling experience in the USA, we miss home and the Australian style of hospitality.”

Singh has overhauled Horn Please over the course of a single one-week transformation. The decor has maintained Singh’s signature bright and bubbly persona, while bringing to life the concept behind the restaurant’s name, Horn Please. A local artist has replaced the previously white walls with vibrant murals. New dishes accompany the new look, with old favourites slightly tweaked. Horn Please continues its celebration of Indian street food and curries, with new additions that include blue swimmer crab croquettes and an onion kulcha naan pizza.
