We've found Sydney's best dessert menu and it's right in the heart of the CBD

No need to head out on an ice cream mission.

While it may come as a surprise to some Sydneysiders (not the serious sugar fiends, of course) Gowings Bar & Grill at QT Sydney is home to one of the city’s best dessert menus.

QT Hotels creative food director, Rob Marchetti said: “We wanted to create a dessert menu that was hard to choose from. Our sweets read simple, but are delivered with a theatrical and playful twist.”

Inspired by childhood classics, the dessert menu is made up of six options to squabble over – or do the smart thing and just get one of each.

Choose from the salted caramel profiteroles, which are choux pastry ice cream sandwiches, stuffed with gelato then topped with a gooey dark chocolate sauce and spun sugar crown, or the yellow raisin bomboloni doughnuts, pumped with raspberry jam and eggnog custard, then sprinkled in a ceylon cinnamon sugar. There’s also a double chocolate and espresso affogato, an orange and campari granita and a cheesecake with spiced passionfruit sauce.

Strawberries and cream dessert.

While it may sound simple, the strawberries and cream is a real show stopper.  The extravagant dessert arrives as a 12cm tall fortress of glossy meringue, with pickled strawberries and silky pannacotta encased within.

For those fond of the festive treats, Gowings Bar & Grill will also run two Christmas-themed desserts over the holidays.  There’s the bombe Italia filled with cherry gelato, eggnog whiskey and custard, covered in scorched meringue kisses and a honeycomb jingle bauble, made from soft chocolate mousse and honeycomb Anglaise in a dark chocolate shell.

Gowings Bar & Grill is located at QT Sydney, 49 Market Street, Sydney. You can drool over the dessert menu here, then head to qthotels.com to make a booking.
