It's in the bag!

The surprising champion of the 2024, the Irish spice bag, is going big.

Paddy Chans has secured a second location in the Inner West suburb of Newtown. The news came via a post on the restaurant’s Instagram, saying, “We have secured a second shop, location at King Street, Newtown, and we can’t wait to share it with you! Our new shop will have a seating plan for 60 people, and we’re aiming to open our doors by December.”

Paddy Chans only launched its first Kensington restaurant in May, so acquiring a second location just three months later impressively demonstrates the astronomical popularity of the unusual Irish dish.

So what can Inner Westies look forward to?

And what on earth is a spice bag?

Paddy Chans specialises in the pan-Asian approach that the Irish take toward post-pub feeds. Dishes like the munch box and spice bag throw together fries, chicken balls (sort of like nuggets), curry sauce, noodles, spring rolls, and just about anything else you can think of. Basically, if you’re craving it after a few pints of Guinness, it’s going in the bag.

Paddy Chans Newtown is slated to open on King Street in December. More details to come.
