Shannon Bennett’s Bistro Vue is set to close

Bistro Vue

With its replacement already confirmed.

Shannon Bennett has just announced that after 10 years of service the much loved Bistro Vue will soon be shutting its doors for good. It’s not all bad news however, with the celebrity chef confirming that the traditional French restaurant is set to be replaced by an eatery and bar named Ike Jime.

Ike Jime will be a far cry from the French fare served up at Bistro Vue. The new restaurant will be the Melbourne CBD’s only dedicated seafood restaurant. There is little change expected architecturally, but when it comes to the menu that’s a different story. Expect seafood dishes with an ethical edge, as the restaurant is named in homage to the Japanese tradition of Ike Jime, which refers to the humane catching and killing of fin fish.

Vue Group’s executive chef Justin James will lead the charge for the new cuisine direction, which the group is adamant will echo the value’s of Bistro Vue (that of ‘quality’ and ‘creativity’). Sam Homan (who joined Vue de Monde’s kitchen in 2015) has been confirmed as head chef of the new kitchen, maintaining Justin’s vision.

Ike Jime is planned to open its doors in early November of 2017. For those who wish to bid a final goodbye to Bistro Vue, the restaurant will be operating as usual until its final service on Saturday October 14.
