Stock up.
It’s a bad day to be a Portuguese tart. Aldi, everyone’s favourite mime, has just dropped a new line-up of excellent pocket-friendly treats but we’re making a B-line straight to the freezer section.
Don’t ask us how they’ve done it but the German geniuses have created perfectly lovely Portuguese tarts for your freezer stash. At just $4.99 for a four-pack, we’re already jazzed for many, many nights on the couch with a bib and a big smile. No regrets.
If you insist on eating your dinner before your dessert (look at you go!) may we suggest the limited-run Bavarian-style pretzels, finished with a flourish of salt? Serve it alongside a crispy German-style pork knuckle that’s ready in just 50 minutes.

Aldi is famous for its bargains on everything from truly excellent chocolate to knock off beer, wine, and spirits, pantry staples and snacks. Aldi is equally famous for its truly chaotic special buys aisle where you can pick up a jar of olives, a generator, rare Pop Tart flavours, and entire jackhammers for next to nothing.
As much as we regret not picking up the heavy machinery when we had the chance, we’ll find comfort in a kingly amount of Portuguese tarts.
The new Limited Time Only range is available now until stock lasts. Check the full list of new and returning items on the Aldi website.
What days are the Aldi Special Buys?
In Australia, Aldi drops the Special Buys on Wednesdays and Saturdays – though the items are available all week. You can find the upcoming specials in the Aldi catalogues, which are released frequently online.
