As a nation, the Italians are renowned for their passion for eating. And, as design duo Dolce & Gabbana have recently proven, there’s no reason why the process of eating can’t be a chic one with the lauded clothes creators unveiling their new season must-have – the Dolce & Gabbana fridge.

Just as Dolce & Gabbana’s clothing is not for the minimalist, it’s kitchenware follows suit. Covered in elaborate illustration, the petite collection of fridges (with only 100 in total available) has been hand-painted by a group of Sicilian artists, each with a unique design that represents folklore of the region.

Produced in partnership with Smeg, the refrigerator made its debut at the Milan Design Fair last April. It’s only just now that the first of the fridges have made their way to Australian shores. Considered a luxury collector’s item, the fridge’s price is on application so as to reflect the hours of hard work that has gone into the creation of each piece. We best start saving then…
