Popcorn

What’s popping on the food front at Fashion Week?

We’re always looking for food trends…even during Fashion (officially pron. ‘FARSHUN’) Week. And while Sydney’s eclectic mix of street style continues to include pleated skirts and Stan Smiths, Gucci gowns with backpacks (well, Gucci everything, really) and denim in just about every guise, what’s popping on the food front? Well, popcorn, of course.

It seems logical that during a week all about cutting the finest figure you can; whether you’re in the front row, out on the street or walking the runway, this means that bread is out. And though corn is technically a grain, and contains the dreaded Fashion Week ‘C’ word (carbs), its relatively low carb factor made it a top choice for busy fashion girls who munch on the run.

From backstage dressing rooms to Ten Pieces’ fancy brown butter and salted nougatine version served to the well-heeled guests at last night’s collaboration show with Fitbit (after all, Ten Pieces is headed up by Sydney restaurant Icebergs’ owner Maurice Terzini), popcorn may just be the most fashionable snack going…well, this week, at least.

Fashion week survival tip = POPCORN and loads of it
