Sorry, this is where we draw the line.
Do you hear those sleigh bells ringing? Because Christmas fruit mince pies have made an early appearance in supermarkets. In August. That’s right! Before winter has even officially bid farewell, our favourite festive treats are already gracing the shelves.
It’s not even September and we can already start panicking about Christmas a full four months before it’s here. The pies have been spotted in Woolworths and while we love the holidays, perhaps this is a little premature.
For the die-hard mince pie enthusiasts, this might feel like an early holiday miracle. But for those of us still wearing our winter coats, it’s a bit like finding tinsel on your barbecue. The early landing of the traditional treat really feels as though we’re racing the calendar, determined to squeeze every ounce of festive finance out of the season.

And we thought we were curmudgeons when Hot Cross Buns hit the shelves in December.
For a little bit of context – we still have Father’s Day, Labour Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, Halloween, and Diwali to get through before Saint Nick comes to town.
Maybe we’re all just eager to get a jump on the holiday season, or perhaps it’s a clever way to start the Christmas countdown earlier. Either way, if you’ve been dreaming of those sweet, spicy pies since last December, rejoice – your cravings can be satisfied ahead of schedule.
So grab a pie (or a dozen), and get ready for a taste of Christmas while it’s still winter. Because, let’s face it, Christmas in July is so over. Who can resist a mince pie when it’s practically Christmas in August?
