McDonald's is launching an Adult Happy Meal and you don't even need your parents to buy it for you

Adult Happy Meal

And yes, it comes with a toy.

McDonald’s has introduced a Happy Meal for grown-ups, and now you’re an adult you don’t even need your parent’s permission to buy one.

There aren’t many things that hit the nostalgia spot quite like the excitement of getting a Happy Meal and after the box was rolled out in the US in 2022, demand for the Adult Happy Meal in Australia is finally being met.

From February 14, fast-food lovers can buy the “adult” box offer which comes with fries, a drink and a choice of either 10-piece chicken nuggets or a Big Mac.

Of course, no Happy Meal would be complete without a toy, with Macca’s revealing that the adult box will come with ’90s collectibles the McNugget Buddies.

The new McNugget Buddies are the brainchild of artist and designer, Kerwin Frost, who has styled each of the four toys to represent an aspect of self-expression.

The return of the McNugget Buddies is peak elder millennial. The originals were first introduced to Australians in 1998 as part of a limited-time Happy Meal featuring glow-in-the-dark McNugget Buddy collectibles. The Buddies were then axed in Australia in 2019.

The new Buddies in the US Happy Meals are inspired by Frost’s childhood in Harlem, with one of them acting as a miniature version of the artist himself, complete with a matching face tattoo.

The other McNugget Buddies are Don Bernice, Uptown Moe, Waffutu, BRRRICK and Darla. Each toy is decked out in interchangeable outfits. It is not known at this stage if the Australian toys will take on a local flavour.

The Adult Happy Meal will be available in Australia from February 14 for a limited time. Check the McDonald’s website for more information.
