Mmm, crunch, aah!
After years of waffling on about bringing back the Polly Waffle, it’s finally happening.
Fourth-generation family-owned confectionery manufacturer, Menz, has announced it will be launching Polly Waffle Bites, a snackable version of the popular chocolate bar, filled with soft vanilla marshmallow, crunchy wafer and milk chocolate, on April 12.
The bites contain all the same flavours of the original Polly Waffle which launched in 1947 and sold up until 2009, before being removed from shelves.
Menz has said that Polly Waffle Bites will replace the Polly Waffle permanently due to manufacturing complexities and the expenses associated with reproducing the OG bar.
Menz acquired the rights to produce Polly Waffle in 2019 from Nestlé, and has spent several years researching and developing how to manufacture the product locally in South Australia.

Menz CEO Phil Sims said: “We have a long history of saving and supporting nostalgic Aussie brands like Violet Crumble and FruChocs, so we have been excited by the opportunity to bring Polly Waffle back.
“Polly Waffle had not been produced in more than ten years when we acquired it, so we essentially had to start from scratch to find out how we could produce it at our South Australian factory.
“It was so important to us that we didn’t put a subpar product in the market, especially one as much loved as Polly Waffle. Creating a Polly Waffle Bite was the most responsible way to make bringing back the iconic brand a reality, and we thank our customers and Polly Waffle fans for their ongoing support and patience.”
Polly Waffle Bites will hit shelves from April 12 with an RRP of $5.50. Independent retailers in SA will be amongst the retailers to carry Polly Waffle Bites, with Coles, Woolworths, all independent supermarkets, petrol and convenience stores to roll the product out across their stores in the weeks ahead.
