Short lived in Australia but boy did they shine, the Corn Pops were a malty, sweet, crunchy ball of processed corn meal with a whisper of honey flavour. The ultra crisp Corn Pops did a number on the roof of your mouth but it’s refreshing when a cereal can sit in milk for more than a minute and not turn into a sodden mess. Bring them back!

Yes, we know you can still get ‘Fruity Bix Bites’ but all we really want is the original squat cylinders that soaked up your milk like a dirt puck from the garden centre. It was all about speed with the OG FBs – scoff them quickly for maximum crunch, time your watch for a half-soggy-half-crunchy blend, or kick back and relax for a strangely satisfying sludge.

If there’s one thing that people who came up in the 90’s will get weirdly passionate about, it’s Mini Wheats. The look on their faces when the memory is jogged is one of pure bliss. And it’s not hard to understand why. Delicate strands of shredded wheat wrapped around a chewy berry filling that just tasted ‘purple’. Perfection.

According to Wikipedia, Honey Smacks were ‘a puffed wheat breakfast cereal made by Kellogg’s, noted for its high sugar content.’ We can believe it. Sugar content aside, we still pine for the chewy brekkie morsels.

Discontinued in the 1970s due to concerns over potentially cancer-causing additives, Strawberry Pops were the rosy coloured cousins of the Cocoa Pops. A (hopefully) less deadly version is still available overseas but until we get out the passport, we can only imagine that the best part of a bowl of Strawberry Pops is the pink milk you get to slurp down at the end.
