Ask any restaurateur and they’ll agree, it’s better to say something on the night. If you’ve received the wrong order, it may be a fleeting moment of awkwardness but it can be fixed by taking a deep breath, flagging your waiter, and asking for it to be corrected. You may feel flustered but don’t take it out on your waiter, mistakes happen. You don’t know what went wrong or who’s fault it is. If you really can’t bring yourself to say it to someone’s face, a discreet email the next day is far better than heading to Yelp and having a whinge there. These little reviews can make or break a restaurant. And finally, a correction is reasonable, but demanding a free meal or a refund rarely is.
