A third of US kids eat fast food every day. Unbelievable right?
It’s no secret that the obesity crisis is truly staggering, but new statistics are particularly sobering, 34 per cent of American children aged two to 19 eat fast food every single day.
New research by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics show that one-third of American kids are eating fast food far more often than they should. What’s more, while we may associate fast food consumption with lower socio-economic status, the findings show that there’s no link between eating cheeseburgers and economic status, race or gender: wealthy kids are just as likely to be fast food frequent fliers.
Here in Australia, the situation isn’t that much better – 60 per cent of Aussies aged 14-29 eat fast food at least once a month, but more troubling is the fact that only one-fifth say they feel confident about cooking.
