Does it sound like your cup of tea?
Avocados are one seriously tasty source of nutrition and don’t we know it. The avocado could well be an Australian icon it’s that heavily featured on menus around the country, helped in part by taste and the fact that the humble avo is a rich source of healthy, good fats.
But it seems it’s not just the avocado flesh which is good for us, but the seed to boot. Avocado tea, made from its seed, is fast becoming a health food favourite. The drink is made by boiling the avocado seed till soft, before cutting it up and allowing it to steep it in water. Honey and agave can then be added to taste.
While the concept of avocado seed tea may be a confusing one, it may become a little more attractive once you’re familiar with the bounty of health benefits it offers. The seed itself is a strong source of calcium, fibre, antioxidants, potassium and vitamin c, which is why it helps to fight bad cholesterol and free radical damage, aid digestion, maintain blood pressure, and reduce inflammation among others.
With that in mind – can somebody put the kettle on?
