Is komboffee the next big health trend?
You may consider yourself of both kombucha and coffee, but would you dare to drink the two at once? That’s essentially what a new drink is proposing — the beverage a hybrid between the health favourite and the morning essential. Komboffee, as it’s cleverly been called, is the creation of Frankie’s Beans Cafe in Darlinghurst.
Coffee roaster Frank Andrews sought to offer a unique new addition to his drinks line-up, releasing a 100 per cent kombucha blend which is combined with cold brew coffee. Andrews partnered with friend Alex, a passionate kombucha creator, on his latest creation, with the duo spending the past few months working hard to perfect the ratio of the drink.
Andrews is also adamant that it’s his cold brew that makes this new hybrid such a tasty coupling. His brew takes two hours to make, which minimises the chance of oxidation, and is created with alkaline water (as opposed to PH neutral) which slows the release of caffeine into the system.
Frankie’s new Komboffee range is available for $6 a bottle at select coffee stores across the country, as well as the original Frankie’s Beans Cafe Shop in Darlinghurst.
