OAK Plus: the drink that makes going to the gym worth it

Oak-Plus

Thought frozen Oak was next level? Wait until you try this, writes Mariam Digges.

Few things are as quintessentially Australian as a carton of OAK chocolate milk. The iconic Newcastle-hailing drink manages to hit that sweet spot between thirst and hunger buster in the one sweet swig.

It wasn’t so long ago that folks were going mad over images of Frozen OAK that were released on social media this summer. So wild was their appetite for this new slushy, milky, chocolately OAK that hoards of Aussies drank up every last bit of the stuff from outlets across NSW (soz, other states – it’s yet to head your way), leaving a trail of thirsty punters in their wake.

The latest OAK incarnation is in health food form (because we needed another excuse to pop a carton). The sports recovery OAK Plus is loaded with 30 grams of natural dairy protein to aid muscle recovery, plus it’s low in fat and has less sugar than ordinary OAK.

“We know that lots of people already drink OAK chocolate milk after exercise because of the protein and nutritional advantages it has over water and other functional drinks,” said Angela Burr, OAK’s Marketing Director.

“OAK Plus tastes every bit as good as regular OAK but is designed specifically to refuel the body after a tough workout…”

OAK Plus was first created for pro football players – it’s been refueling the Penrith Panthers and Port Adelaide teams since the start of the season. Now, it’s available to all health and fitness buffs.

You can get your OAK Plus hit in chocolate, iced coffee or vanilla form from outlets across Australia, including all major grocers such as Coles and Woolworths, for around $3.90.
