Are you picky with your bikkie?

Arnott’s have launched a new range of afternoon treats, promising their legendary Arnott’s taste, now with less sugar. These new low sugar versions are available in the iconic Scotch Finger and Shortbread Cream varieties, and use monk fruit extract, a naturally occurring sweetener.

Back in May, Arnott’s released another batch of gluten-free classics. More and more Australians now get to enjoy these biscuits, and we couldn’t be more excited.

It’s only fair that I dedicate a big chunk of my work day taste testing and comparing these new biscuits to their classic counterparts – for science, of course.

Note: This dual biscuit taste test was conducted in the same controlled environment and under the same conditions.

Now, the verdict. How do these biscuits compare?

I was a little skeptical going into this, as I’m cautious in general of reduced sugar items. But… they tasted pretty legit?

There was a slight but clear difference between the Scotch Finger biscuits, a sharpness in the less sugar version, but nothing unpleasant.

The Shortbread Cream though – mind-blowing. They were identical to me!

I’m in no personal rush to swap them out, but at least with 50% less sugar, we can have twice as many now, right?

The new 50% Less Sugar biscuits are available in the biscuit aisle at all major grocers for $4.70.
