Koko Black has turned to native fauna for this year’s Easter release.
TIt seems that 2018 is out to prove that the chicken egg is done, replaced instead by the likes of an avocado Easter egg, as well as a luxe new addition, the Native Eggs from local creators Koko Black.
The awe-inducing Easter eggs have been crafted in celebration of some of Australia’s most iconic fauna, the emu and the cassowary. This is no sweet treat intended for the kids, but edible emu and cassowary eggs carved to scale from cocoa. Both are made from a combination of Belgian couverture chocolate in milk and 54 percent dark chocolate.
Each egg’s detail is such that they take approximately one hour to make, handcrafted by the brand’s chocolatiers. This process involves hand spraying each chocolate mould with a combination of cocoa butter and food colouring, then an airbrush is used to layer colours to create realistic pattern, texture, and depth on each shell.
As a result of this time-consuming process, only 100 Native Egg packs have been created. They can be purchased at $100 per duo exclusively from Koko Black stores in Melbourne and Sydney.
