There’s a delicious new Christmas food trend doing the rounds this festive season. Presenting: the charcuterie wreath, a ring-shaped snack platter, colourfully adorned with fruits, cured meats and cheeses.

And unlike the charcuterie chalet, which requires a Certificate IV in Building and Construction to put together, the charcuterie wreath is easy to make. All you need is a circular grazing board or platter and a colourful assortment of foods, such as fruit and vegetables, cheese, cured meats, nuts and crackers.

For best results, start by outlining the ring shape and then fill in the centre with slices of cheese and salami rosettes, closing any gaps with grapes, olives, nuts and dried fruit.

The secret to a festive charcuter-wreath is plenty of fresh greenery, such as rosemary, which has the appearance of pine, and festive herbs like sage and thyme. Bright pops of red, such as currants, pomegranate arils and raspberries, can be used to resemble Christmas ornaments.
