Say hello to water blobs
Clean water – or the lack of it – is a huge global issue. With the UN estimating that poor water quality and inadequate supply is responsible for 3.5 million deaths annually, it’s a problem that demands a solution – and fast.
Enter the Ooho – a small blob packed with water. The “skin” is made from algae (so you can eat it) and costs about one cent to make. Produced by Skipping Rocks Lab in London, the Ooho is meant to replace plastic water bottles and therefore reduce waste, but we think it could also be a way to bring water to those who need it most. The algae is strong and hygienic, and the Ooho is easy and cheap to make – if it can be transported, it could be the answer to a massive international dilemma.
