FamilyMart Japan’s fried chicken just got 40 percent bigger

Familymart Famichiki

The wildly popular boneless fried chicken sold at FamilyMart convenience stores across Japan is getting supersized at no extra cost.

Heading back to Japan this month? Convenience store FamilyMart is celebrating 40 years by supersizing some of its beloved snacks this August.

According to Tokyo Cheapo, many of the store’s most popular products will see a roughly 40% increase in size (40th birthday, 40% hike, get it?) at no extra cost to customers. These include, of course, Famichiki, the pork loin cutlet curry, the protein-packed pasta salad, angel cheesecake, FamilyMart Neapolitan and more, with new larger products dropping weekly.

If you’re not familiar with the magic that is Famichiki, it’s sold in the hot food section of most FamilyMart stores across Japan. It’s juicy on the inside, perfectly fried on the outside and makes the perfect bite-sized snack. It’s delicious on its own or can be popped in a bun for an instant makeshift burger.

The promotion began earlier this month and will last until August 30 until sold out, which is a very real possibility.
