Big is beautiful.

As much as we love a tiny jar, there’s also something deeply satisfying about a Big Tub of Something. Especially something as delicious, versatile, and long-lasting as, say, kimchi. Enter the dream destination for any bulk buyer: Costco.

At Australian Costco’s warehouses (but not online, sadly), you can purchase a 1.2 kilogram jar of Jongga kimchi for the extremely reasonable price of $6.99. That’s about $5.80 a kilo, for all you unit pricing fiends out there.

A 1.2kg tub of Jongga kimchi with a black lid and red label.

Jongga, around since the ’80s, is the top-selling brand of kimchi in South Korea by some margin – so while it might not be made by a Grand Master, it’s a safe bet that it’s a great all-purpose option to stash in the fridge. Put it on toasties! Throw it in cheesy pasta! Make kimchi jjigae! Kimchi fried rice! Kimchi okonomiyaki! Or any number of other crunchy-spicy-funky ideas!

Or let the intrusive thoughts win and just grab it in whole fistfuls from the jar like Winnie The Pooh eating honey. At prices like these, that’s a luxury you can afford.
