Massimo Bottura is on his way!
Cooking royalty is headed Down Under. Grab your diary, because in August next year one of the worlds’ best chefs Massimo Bottura will be taking part in a tour across Australia. Partnering with Lateral Events, Bottura will take to the stage live to share his journey to becoming the chef and owner of World’s 50 Best Restaurants No. 1 Restaurant Osteria Francescana.
While Bottura is evidently one of the most talented chefs around the globe, he is also one of the most popular. The charismatic foodie has not only attained three Michelin stars among his Modena-based restaurant’s many awards, but became rather famous thanks to an ongoing appearance on Netflix series Chef’s Table. He has been described by Lateral Events as “poet, storyteller and artist as much as a cook” and has amassed a legion of fans impressed by his creative takes on Italian classic dishes.
He’ll also use the event series to discuss his passion for change, most notably his involvement in non-profit association Food for Soul. Bottura has been a key and vocal instigator in making change worldwide in the fight against food waste, and social isolation, designing community kitchens in Milan, Rio de Janeiro, London and Paris.
He explains of his purpose: “Chefs today are influencers, and therefore they have a responsibility to help their communities grow and become more sustainable. Part of this growth is the fight against food waste and hunger. It’s time for us to go outside our kitchens and listen to our communities, to give back what we have learned in years of hard work, sacrifice, but also satisfaction and rewards.”
“We chefs are as responsible as everyone else to make the difference, and we have to do it now. Not tomorrow, not within a couple of months. Cooking is a call to act,” he said.
From August 6 to 13, Massimo Bottura will be visiting Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, for one night only. We suggest you get in quick to avoid missing out, registration to the events is open now with tickets available for sale from April 3.
