Rise n’ brine! This annual pickle festival is returning to Sydney

Dill pickles

Brace yourself for pickle-themed food, pickle slushies and a pickle eating competition.

Pickle addicts are going to want to clear their schedule on Saturday, November 19, as Sydney’s Oxford Tavern once again welcomes its annual pickle festival.

Returning for the fourth year, Rise N’ Brine is an event dedicated to the most divisive jar snack in your pantry, the humble pickle. This year, the Tav team will be honouring the crunchy treat with pickle-based food, pickley drinks and picklin’ good times.

Pickle fans will relish the day’s special edition menu, showcasing everything from pickle-brined chicken wings to loaded pickle fries – and dessert fiends won’t want to miss out on the chocolate brownie with pickle cream.

Just swinging by for a pickle bevvy? Expect to find pickle-inspired beers on tap, Jameson Whiskey Pickleback slushies, or for the cocktail crowd, a special edition High Society Pickleback – encompassing gin, fermented cucumber, lime and gentian. I’ll take two, thanks.

If all of this pickle isn’t enough for a dill devotee such as yourself, sign up for the Rise N’ Brine Pickle Eating Competition at 2pm. Limited edition Tav merch is on offer for the winners, but I think we all know bragging rights will be the real prize here.

Doors open at 12pm, with live music providing the soundtrack to your pickle party from 3pm. To find out more, or to book a seat, head to oddculture.group.
