What is Pistachio Papi?

Pistachio Papi is a rich and creamy Italian spread made from pistachios – a type of nut with a unique green and purple hue and an addictively salty-sweet flavour profile.

When the spread launched in May 2023, it sold 3,500 jars in four minutes. This year, it’s looking to import 500 tonnes into Australia.

We highly recommend treating yourself to a jar of this irresistibly moreish green goodness – try it slathered over crunchy hot toast, drizzled over pastry or cakes, or just spooned straight from the jar. You can also use it to make your own version of the viral Dubai chocolate bar, if you can get your hands on any kataifi pastry – a key ingredient in the chocolate that is currently sold out everywhere.

Pistachio Papi x Krispy Kreme

Last month saw the return of the smash-hit Pistachio Overload Doughnut collab between Krispy Kreme and Pistachio Papi. This is the second time in a matter of months that the doughnut chain has released the hugely popular limited-edition doughnut.

Hailed as the “collaboration of the year” by Krispy Kreme, the Pistachio Overload Doughnut is filled with pistachio mousse, dipped in Pistachio Papi spread and topped with candied pistachios and white chocolate drizzle.

Laura Pashby, marketing manager at Krispy Kreme ANZ, says the demand for Pistachio Papi has been enormous, which is why they brought it back so soon.

“Our collab with Pistachio Papi was an absolute hit,” she says. “The response last time was incredible – we had fans flooding our inboxes, asking (begging!) for it to return.

“The excitement last time blew us away. It was one of our most talked-about launches, and the love from our fans was next level. So bringing it back was a no-brainer.”
