Colin Fassnidge to the (highly entertaining) rescue.
Fans of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant overhaul reality show are going to want to cancel their Wednesday night plans, because an Aussie version has finally hit our shores.
Yep, you read that right, local restaurant owners will be putting their struggling businesses on the line when outspoken culinary icon Colin Fassnidge comes to town.
The award-winning chef has just five days to turn each of these eateries around, using his expertise to help owners to improve their kitchens, their business strategies, and – most importantly – their menu offerings, in the hopes of sending them on their way to a better and brighter future.
And yes, while the accents may have changed, the exasperation level remains the same.
Colin will tick off all of the iconic Kitchen Nightmares boxes, from delusional owners to truly filthy kitchens, throwing in a big dose of scorn each time someone mentions my personal favourite Nightmares shortcut – “fresh frozen” (no, it is not a thing).

When asked what his biggest shock was walking into these kitchens, Colin didn’t beat around the bush.
“It was a real eye opener to see people who have abandoned all hygiene and safety standards, and still think it is okay to operate and serve food to the public. It is f***ing disgusting. I couldn’t really censor myself.”
And for that, Colin, we remain eternally grateful.
New episodes of Kitchen Nightmares Australia are screening each Wednesday night at 7:30pm, on Channel 7 and 7plus.
