And just what they'll be eating there.
It’s no secret that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a certain Prince Harry and his American bride Meghan Markle, are on their way Down Under. The famous duo will be landing on Australian soil as a part of their hosting duties for the Invictus Games, the multi-sport event for wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel, being held in Sydney between October 20 and 27.
But what else will the famous pair get up to on their sojourn through the Harbour City? Well, rumours are rife that the Duke and Duchess will be dining at Sydney’s luxe Bennelong restaurant during their trip. And it’s been said they have hired the entire space to enjoy a meal with some accompanying peace and quiet. Bennelong’s owners, Fink Group, were unable to comment on the supposition, but considering the jaw-dropping views of Sydney and the surrounding harbour, as well as the unrivalled fare created within the restaurant, it’s an experience that would be a shame for a visiting royal to miss.
Thanks to the strict eating regulations placed on members of the British Royal Family, it is quite clear what they will not be dining on. While on tour, Queen Elizabeth is said to discourage the consumption of seafood (for fear of food poisoning). Out, too, will be anything involving too much garlic (for fear of bad breath). But remaining dishes that might tempt the couple include Arkady grass-fed lamb with Jerusalem artichoke, broad beans, brown butter and scorched leaves, or perhaps the confit of Maremma duck with kumquat and kampot pepper marmalade and slow-cooked carrots and nasturtiums.
Thankfully, both of Bennelong’s iconic desserts are strictly seafood- and garlic-
free. We have no doubt the duo will head straight for the indulgent Chocolate
Cake From Across the Water, and the restaurant’s most famous offering, the Cherry Jam Lamington.
