Mitey good news!
If you’re already outraged that hot cross buns are in supermarkets, just wait until you hear about this year’s new sacrilegious flavour.
Coles has teamed up with Vegemite to release Vegemite and cheese hot cross buns, flavoured with everyone’s favourite breakfast spread, along with parmesan and tasty cheese.
The toasted bun can be slathered in butter or filled with cheese to create a cheesymite toastie.
If you’re more of a sweet bun kind of person, Coles will also be releasing sticky date and butterscotch, salted caramel and apple and cinnamon hot cross buns, as well as the traditional fruit, chocolate and fruit-free varieties.
Bega Cheese Limited executive general manager Adam McNamara said the new cheesymite hot cross buns made perfect sense. “Vegemite is one of those things that makes Australia wonderful,” he said.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to bring together two of Australia’s favourites – Vegemite and hot cross buns. We think that fans will be delighted with this new combination.”
Coles Vegemite and Cheese Hot Cross Buns are now available to purchase from Coles supermarkets nationwide for $3.50 per four-pack.
