Go home, butter. You’re drunk.
The one thing I’ve learnt from TikTok over the years is that butter is much more than just a humble spread. You may (not so fondly) remember the viral butter board, but since then we’ve also seen ‘cowboy butter’ (butter mixed with spices) and butter candles pop up. The latest iteration of the app’s obsession ventures down a time-honoured tradition of adding a little kick to your meal, enter vodka butter.
What is vodka butter?
As simple as it sounds, it’s really just vodka blended with butter. Pour a few shots of your favourite voddy into a food processor, add some softened butter and blend until you have a silky smooth spread, with added bite.
What to pair with vodka butter
We definitely don’t recommend eating the butter straight on bread, unless you’re planning a boozy brunch. Vodka butter pairs best with a snack board or any salty charcuterie elements. Tinned fish and salmon also tie in nicely, as well as pickles, capers and olives.
Beyond using it as an appetiser, you can use vodka butter as a base for pasta, beans or grills. To make it at home as part of a fancy snack, check out the recipe below.
