Seriously. Come on guys.
Australian brewers don’t hold back when it comes to interesting beers. You want a taco beer? Sure. How about chicken carcasses? No problem.
But a Norwegian brewery has added in what we think is probably the most stupid possible ingredient.
Money.
Yep, actual cash money that would add no possible flavor, texture or discernable difference to the beer.
The Big Ass Money Stout is also brewed with frozen ham and pepper pizza, and fermented to a whopping 20 percent alcohol content (Carlton Draught, by comparison, is 4.6 percent)
The stout is a joint collaboration between Brooklyn-based brewer Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø, of Evil Twin Brewing, and American Mike Murphy, who brews at Lervig Aktiebryggeri, in Norway.
Evil Twin is considered one of the best breweries in the word, having produced exclusive American pale ale for Noma, in Copenhagen and being stocked at David Chang’s Momofuku restaurants.
Jeppe wanted to add a Norwegian twist to the beer, and as Norway is the richest country in the world, figured a couple of hundred dollars wouldn’t go astray. And the high alcohol percentage disinfects all that grubbiness. The pizza is one of the most popular frozen foodstuffs sold in the country.
He wrote about the creative process behind the beer for Munchies, and admitted he would only sell the beer in America, not Norway, for fear of backlash.
So – creative genius or waste of money?
